Support Request: Support for Skype for Business

Description

Is it possible to enable "Skype for Business" to use the "Skype Meetings Web App"? In the log I see a message:
[SiteKiosk] Notification: According to the surf area rules the navigation to sfb:https://webpooldm10a26.infra.ly...1&pagename=MeetingJoin was canceled.

I don't see a way to add custom URL's that start with the protocol "sfb:" and the URL "*://" will not match because the URL is actually "sfb:https://..."

The feature we would like to take advantage of is "Skype Meetings Web App" allows someone the join the meeting "anonymously" without having to have a "Skype for Business" account & password.

I see currently predefined values for URL filtering are:
file://
http://
https://
ftp://
res://
*://

Can this list be expanded to include: "sfb:https://" ?

Answer: (4)

Hello,

To provide an accurate recommendation that works, please send a copy of your log file (C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\Logfiles) and config file (*.skcfg) ab@provisio.com.

Best regards.

The scenario for the log file attached was from startup:
Click the "On-Screen Keyboard" icon - launches Microsoft On-Screen Keyboard - OK
Click the "Skype for Business" button - OK
Log into Skype for Business (thick client) - OK
Click the "Skype Test Call" button - Pop-up "Access Denied" URL Prohibited (Button launches URL to start Skype for Business Web App URL)
On the resulting web page it says the launch failed and provides and additional link to start the meeting using the Desktop Skype Client. Clicking that link succeeds.

Using the Skype for Business Desktop client REQUIRES someone to log in with a valid user name and password. If I can unblock the "sfb:https://.." URL then the Web client will allow a Guest (anonymous) person lo log in without having to have an account. No one will be required to login to the Skype for Business client to start the meeting/conference. That is what we require, to conference an agent into the meeting with an anonymous kiosk user.

Thank you for sending your files.

I could not test this. And it may not work because I did not have access to Skype for Business.

You did the right thing with your webpage URL on the Surfing Area with the appropriate combination of wildcard masks. See the link to our Help page for more details - https://www.provisio.com/helpconsole/SiteKiosk%20Help/en-US/surfing_area.htm

For example you can try "*://*.infra.lync.com/* " will allow "sfb:https://webpooldm10a26.infra.ly...1&pagename=MeetingJoin " and its subpages to be allowed.

Be careful with liberal use of the wildcard mask but you should be ok.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Or though not the best recommended, you can add your own protocol in the list here:

Open your config file (*.skcfg) by NotePad Editor., Press Ctrl+F to find "schemes" going down.

Insert your line after <schemes defaultallowed="false"> like this "<scheme name=" ***ftp or https*** " desc=" You give a short description " allowed="true" /> ". Be sure to follow the same format as the items in the same column.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Because a plugin may be required, we suggest you use IE browser as a browser of choice.

If none of these would work for you , please let me know right away.

Adding the line:
<scheme name="sfb" desc="Skype for Business Web App protocol" allowed="true" />

to the <config>.skcfg file allowed the Skype for Business Web App to load and function correctly.
