Support Request: SITEKIOSK AND DOMAIN CONTROLLER

Description

Good morning,
We have a Windows PC linked to a domain in active directory.

The software works correctly but, once the autostart is set, the software starts but cannot start an exe that we have set.

If instead we manually restart the operating system, the software starts and also manages to start the exe that we have set.

How can we solve?

Hello,

Where did you configure the exe to start?
What is the name of the exe file and in which folder is it stored?

Goodmorning,
The name of exe file, is our internal exe (like > prova.exe).

About the guide I just read it and, this sitekiosk settings, are correct.

I setup tha autostartup with a local user (workstation-name.user) and with a domain user (domain.user) but the problem persists.

After that, I disable "hide windows error":
- If I manual restart the computer (by start > reboot), sitekiosk: autologon > lock views and windows > autostartup sitekiosk > autostartup the dashboard that I drew > autostartup the application.exe

- If I simulate an autostartup (by sitekiosk > autostartup): autologon > lock views and windows > autostartup sitekiosk > autostartup the dashboard that I drew > doesn't autostartup the application.exe > I tried to run the application from the dashboard that I drew > an error appear "impossible to run this application"

I attend your feedback,
Have a nice day,
Federico

Hello,

Unfortunately, I have not yet fully understood how you started the EXE file.
>> I tried to run the application from the dashboard that I drew<<<
Is this a web page you created?
Or did you add it to the SiteKiosk configuration or to the Windows startup folder?
Does it work in "Start Once" mode?
Which information is given in the SiteKiosk log when you try to start the exe?
In which folder did you save the EXE?
Which SiteKiosk version do you use?
Which Windows version do you use?

Generally there are 2 settings that can block the exe.
If only occurs in “Auto Start” it might be about the access right settings to the folder?

Also note that the SiteKiosk shell replacement (e.g. active in the so-called “Autostart“ mode of SiteKiosk) causes applications stored in the Startup directory (Start-->All Programs-->Startup) to be overlooked when the user logs on to the system.

I try to be clearer:
I confirm that I have created a page with sitekiosk, in which I have inserted a button to manually start the exe (in case the proprietary application "prova.exe" crashes).

If I start sitekiosk with "Start Once" it works correctly.

If I start sitekiosk with "autostartup" it doesn't work correctly.

We use the latest version of sitekiosk, we downloaded it from the site.

We use Windows 10 Ent 2004.

The "prova.exe" file is located in a folder dedicated to the path C: \ prova \ prova.exe
The "everyone" group has free access to the folder with maximum permissions.

In the windows "startup" folder, we have not entered anything in order to let the program configure everything.

I attend your feedback,
Have a nice day,
Federico

Hello,

As it works in “Start once” mode but not in “Auto Start” it seems to be about the access rights settings for the SiteKiosk user which are configured with the System-Security-Manager.

Open the System-Security-Manager in your admin account (SiteKiosk must not run).
Then choose "Customized" and go to >Folder access
Set read & execute or even full access for the folder "C:\prova" (depends on your application)
