FAQ: SITEREMOTE SERVER PORTS

Description

It is necessary that the following ports be open for the respective operations on the SiteRemote SERVER:

- for communication with the SiteKiosk terminals
8086 default Windows clients (incoming)
5222 default Android clients (incoming)

- for access to the website(s):
80 http or 443 HTTPS (incoming)

- SiteCaster CMS:
443 (incoming)

- for sending e-mail
25 SMTP (outgoing)

- for the SiteRemote file manager (and SiteCaster/Digital Signage):
Since SiteRemote 5.x: 443 incoming (default)
Except when deactivating the option to transfer files via secure HTTP (HTTPS) to the machines at the Team settings – then 52138 TCP (incoming)

SiteRemote 3.x/4.x: 52138 TCP incoming (default)
Except when activating the option to transfer files via secure HTTP (HTTPS) to the machines at the Team settings – then 443 (incoming)

SiteKiosk Android clients will always load the files directly from the SiteRemote Server via https (443).
443 incoming

- for the XMPP server ejabbered (used to connect Android clients):
8888 TCP (only used locally on the server)

- for VNC (SiteKiosk Windows Clients)
The optional VNC connection to the clients can be established via the SiteRemote Server, diminishing the team traffic allotment (repeater), or by a direct connection to the client (Teredo).

The Repeater option requires that the following ports be made available on the SiteRemote server:
5901 TCP incoming (VNCViewer port)
5500 TCP incoming (VNCServer port)
55901 UDP incoming (controller port)
55900 UDP outgoing (CtS blackboard)

All that is required for the Teredo option is to set up the firewall on the client machine following this FAQ:

VNC requires the UVNC Client (Viewer) on the PC you use to establish the connection. It needs TCP 5901 (out).

Answer: (2)

File Manager / Digital Signage download port settings - applies to SiteKiosk Windows Clients only

SiteRemote 3.x/4.x:
By default the File Manager (and SiteCaster) does use the torrent technique to send the files to the terminals so that these data can also be distributed between the clients.

But if required you can change the File Manager settings to use HTTPS instead so that the clients will always load the files directly from the SiteRemote Server via https (443) only.

This can be changed within the Team settings in your SiteRemote Team.
Just activate the option "Transfer files via secure HTTP (HTTPS) to the machines" at the settings page (at the end of the page) and confirm by using the save button.

Then there is no need to open the torrent port (52138).

- SiteRemote 5.x
By default the File Manager (and SiteCaster/Digital Signage) will load the files directly from the SiteRemote Server via https (443)

SiteKiosk Android clients will always load the files directly from the SiteRemote Server via https (443).
